A Food Policy for Canada

Introduction

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your views on the development of A Food Policy for Canada.

This survey is being conducted by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada on behalf of the Government of Canada.

What is a food policy?

A Food Policy for Canada will set a long-term vision for the health, environmental, social, and economic goals related to food, while identifying actions we can take in the short-term.

A food policy is a way to address issues related to the production, processing, distribution, and consumption of food.

What areas could a food policy cover?

Through this consultative survey, the Government of Canada is looking to guide the development of principles and objectives for A Food Policy for Canada. Topics have been grouped under four closely connected themes. They are:

  • Increasing access to affordable food
  • Improving health and food safety
  • Conserving our soil, water, and air
  • Growing more high-quality food
